Gord Zaporosky

A very well known & respected professional in the Rail Industry with 35 years of experience including extensive knowledge of track maintenance & inspections as well as track geometry, geotechnical, supervision & planning. He started his career in the rail industry in 1985 w/ C.P. Rail as a Laborer, quickly working his way up to a machine operator, then General Foreman before taking a management position in Winnipeg as an Assistant Road Master in the very busy hub of the Winnipeg terminal. He operated many types of railway equipment throughout his career & worked with various crews from Red Deer, Alberta to Thunder Bay Ont. He also patrolled the C.P. Main line between Winnipeg, MB & Kenora, Ont as well as taking a 1 year term on the TEC car as Track Evaluation Specialist . He retired from C.P. Rail in March of 2020 and now brings his experience to Dunit Contracting giving our customers excellent service in rail inspection & repair.

Ron Huber

Ron Huber has over 35 years of extensive rail industry experience. He began his career as a laborer where he moved on to machine operating. He became general foreman on various production crews, gaining knowledge of track installation, track maintenance and inspection guidelines. He was able to perform track maintenance from Thunder Bay Ontario to Kenora; Ontario to Winnipeg Manitoba right through to Saskatchewan and Alberta. Ron is a ticketed welder and has 20 years of experience track and thermite welding as a welding foreman. He is also a certified frog and rail end welder. Ron is qualified to perform rail car switching services. With high standards and evolving work practices he makes sure Dunit Contracting stays current and up to date. Ron's extensive rail servicing knowledge combined with being an expert welder allows Dunit Contracting to ensure your inspection and maintenance needs are always met.

Track Inspections/Switch Inspections

Dunit Contracting has several qualified Track Inspectors and Switch inspectors to inspect and recommend the necessary repairs to keep your track in compliance. This ensures that the integrity of your track is of the highest standard. Our goal is to prevent delays to your switching services due to derailments or out of compliance track as well as to reduce costly repairs. Our inspections in conjunction with our maintenance crews will keep you in compliance with your rail service provider.

New Track Construction

At Dunit Contracting we are qualified in all aspects of new railway construction. Big or small projects, beginning with sub grade work, right up to serviceable track. All of our newly constructed railway tracks are built to industry standards.

Rail Abandonment

Dunit Contracting provides track removal and salvage services. We have the equipment needed to remove all track and track components in a safe and cost effective manner. We will salvage all profitable railway materials for you, which includes: re-usable ties and rail for use on other tracks, as well as the stockpiling of non-usable steel for scrap steel sales.

Switching Services

Dunit Contracting has qualified employees and the necessary equipment to provide you with professional, prompt and efficient switching services. Our team will prevent delays and will ensure your product is delivered to market on time.

Track Maintenance

Dunit Contracting is qualified to perform all track maintenance including: Tie Replacement, Lifting and Lining of Track, Switch Maintenance, Rail Replacement, Gauging, Frog Welding, Other Track Material (bolts, bars, spikes etc)

Welding/Thermite Welding

Dunit Contracting's welders are fully qualified in track welding as well as thermite welding. Services provided include: Frog Welding/Profile Grinding, Joint Build-up/Profile Grinding, Industrial Switch Point Rebuilding, Thermite Welding - Joint Elimination.
